How do you inspire others?

October 24, 2017

How are you inspired?

Do you read a book and get an ah-ha moment? Do you see someone living the life they want to live? Do you take a walk with a friend and realize you have more in common than you knew?  Are you inspired buy successful stories? Or are you inspired when you see someone doing something nice for someone else?

So now the question is...how do you inspire others?

Do you believe people are inspired by you because you do the right thing, live your fullest in life, say what you mean and mean what you say?

Or

Do you believe people are inspired by you because of  how much money you have, the size of your house, the town or city you live, the style of your car, name brand cloths, shoes or handbags?

Don't get me wrong things are great to have, but if you think that things inspire other people to be the best version of themselves is that a fair statement to make?  I am talking about the smallest things that you do, even when you have big things, can inspire someone to be the best they can be.

I am a confident person, it took a long time to get here, but I no longer compare myself. I no longer try and better than someone else. I did my work, forgave, acknowledged that I will always be the best version of myself for me and my family. I have nice things, I own name brand handbags, shoes and jewelry but that is not what I feel inspires my family or even strangers.

I used to go into the grocery store every Sunday morning, I smile, I say hello, I walk with my head held high.  Until one day my daughter said "mom that is my friend's mom from school".  I went over to introduce myself as Liv's mom.  She said "I am so glad to meet you, each week you come in here, I look at you and say I want to be just like her!"  I was so taken back.  I had no idea.  I said "what a nice compliment"  She said "How did you get here?"  I thought, I really caught her eye.  I replied "It took time and practice, redirection and forgiveness".  She said "I want in!!".  She took my classes and did her work, redirected when needed, worked on forgiveness and now, she is in a healthy relationship with herself.  She has never been happier.

So you see, it does not have to be some big extravagant action or possession.  You just have to be you.

Pay attention to your actions and reactions, pay attention to how you stand, walk and talk. Pay attention how you show yourself to the world.

So I ask you the same question again...how do you inspire others?
